Rome is gearing up for an exciting running event on January 6th - the "Corri per la befana" (Run for the Befana) 10km race. This unique race is a great way to kick off the new year and celebrate the Italian tradition of La Befana.

La Befana is a beloved character in Italian folklore who is said to bring gifts to children on the night of January 5th. The race, organized by Roma Roadrunners Club under the patronage of the city of Rome, aims to combine the joy of running with the festive spirit of La Befana.

Participants of all ages and abilities are welcome to join the race. Whether you are a seasoned runner or just starting out, this event offers a great opportunity to challenge yourself and have fun. The 10km distance is suitable for both experienced runners looking to set a new personal best and beginners looking to complete their first race.

Registration for the race is open until January 4th and can be done online through the official website of the Club or just asking us! The registration fee includes a race bib, a commemorative t-shirt, and a finisher's medal. Participants will also have access to refreshments and entertainment at the finish line.

In addition to the race, there will be various activities and entertainment for spectators and participants alike. The race coincides with the Epiphany holiday, and there will be traditional Befana-themed events taking place throughout the city. A lot of participants will dress as La Befana and will run through the streets!

Whether you are a local or a visitor, the "Corri per la befana" race is a fantastic way to experience the vibrant atmosphere of Rome and celebrate the start of the new year. So lace up your running shoes and join in the fun on January 6th!

8.00 am meeting in Via Lemonia at the Villaggio della Befana in the sports field of the Church of San Policarpo

9.45 am Befana Happy Run (3 km)

Via Lemonia inside the park, fountain height indicator with sails, barriers and signs – route inside the Aqueduct Park – Via Lemonia (arrival).

All children who finish the race will receive an additional gadget.

10.00 am ⎯ 10.100 km competitive and 10.100 km recreational motor (non-competitive)

The non-competitive 10,100 km starts at the end of the competitive one.
