Running for a Cause: Wings for Life World Run Comes to Rione Monti!

The global movement to cure spinal cord injury is arriving in the heart of Rome. Here’s everything you need to know about the App Run organized by RomeByRun.

At RomeByRun, we believe that running is more than just a sport—it’s a way to connect with the city, its history, and its people. That’s why we are incredibly proud to announce that we are organizing the official Wings for Life World Run App Run in Rione Monti!

The response from the Roman running community has been overwhelming: the event is officially SOLD OUT! While registration for our specific App Run is closed, the energy is just beginning to build.

What is the Wings for Life World Run?

If you’re new to this event, it’s a race like no other. There is no finish line. Instead, 30 minutes after the start, a Virtual Catcher Car begins its pursuit via the official App. Once the car passes you, your race is over.

The best part? 100% of all entry fees and donations go directly to spinal cord research, helping to find a cure for spinal cord injury. We run for those who can’t.

Why Rione Monti?

For this year’s App Run, we chose one of Rome’s most iconic and atmospheric neighborhoods: Rione Monti.

Running through Monti is like sprinting through a living museum. With its narrow cobblestone streets, hidden ivy-covered alleys, and the majestic Colosseum standing guard nearby, it provides the ultimate Roman backdrop for a global cause. Our route is designed to showcase the grit and beauty of the "Eternal City" while we push our limits against the Catcher Car.

As local running experts, the RomeByRun team will be on the ground to guide the participants, keep the energy high, and ensure that everyone—from sprinters to casual joggers—enjoys the unique "Monti experience."

We wanted to create a space where the local community could feel part of the global event, hearing the synchronized start signal along with hundreds of thousands of runners worldwide.
